Acceptance of work

A cash payment is usually required upon acceptance of work to cover initial labour charges for carrying out Diagnostics.

Equipment undergoes a series of detailed tests on the bench; the aim of which is to identify the cause(s) of faults. In general, this is usually achieved, and sometimes faults can actually be resolved at this stage. In order to complete Diagnostics however, essential new parts may need to be fitted; the costs of which will need to be additionally charged for. This is especially the case for safety-related parts, without which work cannot be continued.

At the end of the Diagnostics stage, an estimate of repair charges will be provided (see below). If it is decided not to continue with the repair, then we will try our best to return the equipment to a similar (or better) state than when received. This, however, cannot always be guaranteed, since components which may be partially functioning to start with, may no longer be at the end of testing.

The agreed repair work will be carried out, subject to availability of spare parts. If any other significant issues arise, work be paused and an estimate of additional costs will be provided. Work will be resumed once approval is obtained.

Intermittent defects

These can be very difficult to resolve, if at all, so work can only be accepted on the understanding that:

- there is no guarantee of a successful outcome

- if the fault re-occurs, then work will only continue at the customer's request and further expense.

A verbal estimate of the likely charges will be offered as soon as Diagnostic work has been carried out, on the understanding that this may be subject to change as work progresses. This is because sometimes underlying faults only become apparent after initial problems are resolved. Customers will be kept informed of any changes during the course of work.

Unless otherwise agreed, full payment should be made within 3 working days of the notification of completion of work (“Payment Due Date”). Only cash, cheque or bank transfer can be accepted. Items cannot be released until full payment has been received, and any cheques cleared (which could take up to 5 working days).

Unfortunately, due to an obvious limit on the physical space available on our premises, unless otherwise agreed, any items not paid for and collected within 3 working days of the Payment Due Date could be subject to a storage charge.

Any equipment held in storage for longer than 2 weeks, without prior agreement, may be disposed of (i.e. sold or dismantled and destroyed) at our discretion, and no claims of any kind will be entertained. Any outstanding charges would still be due.

For a period of 90 days from the date of collection, if our workmanship proves defective, then it will be promptly put right. Any transportation costs will be payable by the customer.

Any new components sourced and fitted by Astral Sonic Technology will be guaranteed as per the manufacturers'  /suppliers' warranties. In general, we tend not fit components as supplied by customers, except when agreed.

Completion times

Our aim is to repair, properly test and return equipment as quickly as possible.

When equipment is initially received for repair, and at subsequent stages, we will give an approximate indication of the time required to carry out work, though this may be subject to change as work progresses. This could be extended due to many factors outside our control, such as other problems becoming apparent, delays acquiring spare parts, etc.

We will always try to meet urgent needs of customers, but strict deadlines for completion of work cannot be agreed to.

Customers should therefore make contingency plans in the event of delays, though we will endeavour to help in any way we can.

Loss / Damage / Liability

All items will be treated with care and consideration. Customers are advised to have their own insurance cover in place to cover loss or damage. In any instances of loss/damage/injury, our financial liability will be strictly determined by our insurers and will be subject to their conditions.

These Terms & Conditions are liable to change at any time.
